Dear Mom(s),
You probably never expected to be doing this alone. You planned on having help. Now your boy is getting older and you just aren't prepared to deal with some of the situations you are facing.
We don't claim to have all the answers but what we do have are some guys that are willing to help. Many of the men involved in this ministry were once in the same place your boys are now. Listen to what one of our mentors has to say...
"My father died when I was 9. Since my mom never remarried, there was no one to fill in that gap. I never had anyone to show me how to treat a girl. No man ever sat down with me to help me choose my path in life. Shop for a car? Fix a flat tire? Forget it, I'm about as hopeless as they come. It might have been different though, if dad was around during those teen years. Fortunately, God has promised to be a father to the fatherless. I'm just glad that now I have the chance to give these young men what I missed out on - a role model that cares enough to get involved."
Mom, even if you've got it all together, your son still needs a male mentor to come along side and lead by example. All of our mentors go through a background check and fingerprinting. Each mentor goes through a training class so that they have the tools necessary to effectively minister to your son. So if you attend Calvary Chapel and have a son between the ages of 8 and 17 who doesn't have an active father figure in his life, email us today to see how to get him involved. We meet together as a group once a month and there are also opportunities for one on one mentoring.
- How can anyone possibly have THAT MUCH energy?
- Girls? You don't even want to think about it.
- Who's going to teach him how to shave?
- Every guy should be able to change a tire right? How do I teach THAT?
